KidzPort November 29 – Advent

This week was Advent Sunday.  While we don’t make a big deal about Advent at Gospel Light, it is a time to begin getting into the “Christmas Attitude.”   For is in the kids ministry, that means getting ready for the Christmas Cantata.

We spent Sunday’s time getting warmed up on some songs from last year’s show, and talking about Advent and getting ready for Christmas.   We talked a little about what people do differently during the Christmas season than they do at other times.  One thing, of course, is Christmas decorations.  People light up their houses and businesses, and towns decorate for the season.  Sometimes they may make it seem like a generic “Happy Holidays” kind of thing, but it is usually unmistakably Christmas.

We also tend to sing a lot of songs around Christmastime, a lot more than the rest of the year.  No one sings patriotic songs for a month before the Fourth of July.  But there are plenty of radio stations that play nothing but Christmas music during Advent.  We don’t go singing songs on people’s front lawns during Easter, but we do it now.  Why?  Because this is different .  Christmas is all about joy and hope.  And people like those things.

So as we get ready for the Cantata, keep seeking out joy and hope.

Kidzport – December 14 – Musical Goodness

Today was our last chance to run through all the songs the Kidzport kids will be doing before Saturday’s big show. The kids are doing a great job with their part of the production.

Friday night both cell groups will be meeting in church instead of Kidzport. This will be our last dress rehearsal. Saturday, all the kids need to be at the church by 3pm for a final runthrough and dinner before the show.

For Parents:
- Make sure your kids know their songs and sing them all week. Get them there on time Friday and Saturday. And bring as many people as you can.

Kidzport December 7 – Sing out loud, sing out strong!

Wit the Christmas Cantata coming up, the next couple of weeks are going to be dedicated to preparations for that great event.   So this week, we spent our session working on music with the kids.   The 10-12 year-old GLCCKidz group is going to be doing the skit during the Cantata, but we are counting on the KidzPort group for their voices.  They will be joining the older kids for songs during the play, as well as doing some carols on their own.  What carols?   You’ll have to come to find out! 

But I can tell you this…   they sounded awesome! 

Remember, the cantata is Saturday, December 20 at 6:30PM, right at Gospel Light.  See you there!
